Outbound Tour Operators Association of India held 2nd Convention for 5 days at Indonesia’s premier resort Pan Pacific Nirwana Hotel Bali, from March 17 to 21, 2016. It made a bang on the Indonesian soil with a grand opening provided all the comforts and incredible stay followed by performances and business sessions.
The theme of this year’s convention ‘India Outbound – The Game Changer’ was an engaging platform for the members with B2B Table Top Meetings with participation from at least 25 companies and suppliers from Bali. The first three days of the convention were dedicated to deliberations and business sessions that led to brain storming sessions, exchange of thoughts, and robust inter-actions amongst a thoughtful mix of quality speakers.
After a scintillating opening dinner hosted by OTOAI onsite at the Pan Pacific Nirwana Resorts, Bali, on 17th March, the Convention opened on 18th March 2016. Enthusiastically attended by the delegates, the First Business Session was Parivartan – India Outbound – The Game –changer! The moderator was OTOAI President, Guldeep Sahni. Speakers were Emin Cakmak from the Turkish India Tourism Council – TITC, Umberto Calamudra from PACTO, Dhananjay Saliankar from Starwood Hotels, Gilda Sagrado from Bali Tourism, Alka Jha from Tiger Airways, Rayomand Choksi from Mt. Titlis & Hotels, Switzerland and Radhika Krishnan from GNTO. This was followed by presentations from TBO, FXKart, Starwood and Travelport.
The Second Business Session was Badaltey Rishtey – Vendor – client – Agent changing dynamics. The moderator was OTOAI Western India Chairman, Mahendra Vakharia. Speakers were Ankush Nijhawan from TBO, Arjun Shroff from Shroff Travels, Philipinnes, Sujit Nair from Aquasun, Himanshu Patil from Kesari Travels and Kanwardeep Singh from Travel Bullz.
On the second day of the convention, MOU was signed between OTOAI represented by President Guldeep Sahni and VP & Convention Chairman Riaz Munshi and Emin Cakmak of the Turkish India Travel Council – TITC, also accompanied by Parmod Sahni their India representative. Emin also announced a Mega Fam to Turkey for all OTOAI members in September 2016.
This was followed by Mann ki Baat, an Open House, where the entire OTOAI EC, Chairpersons and Committee Heads were on call, responding to questions, feedback, observations from the delegates. This was resulted an interactive session which made OTOAI took back all the suggestions with assurances of future action in the members’ interests.
Further there was a Table-Top Session between the delegates and local suppliers which was a HUGE success and helpful in creating new contacts and the potential business relationships were forged.
Next day of the convention saw a half day Bali sight-seeing tour with local cuisine and Indian food at a restaurant enroute which gave the delegates an opportunity to make their night memorable with the dinner which was hosted by Starwood at Westin Resorts. Considering Indian’s love and interest for cricket, special arrangements were made for T-20 World Cup LIVE which was scheduled between India and Pakistan.
20th March saw a half day sight-seeing to the hill resort of Ubud with a spot of shopping, lunch back onsite and then transfers to the 7 break-away five star hotels and resorts in Bali (Ayodhya Resorts, Bali Dynasty Resorts, Discovery Kartika Plaza, Grand Hyatt, Laguna Nusa Dua, Nusa Dua Resorts and Westin Resorts), for the delegates to enjoy a night’s onsite hotel inspection and stay with hosted dinners by hotels or Queens.
The delegates returned back to their respective destinations on 21st March 2016 after experiencing an enormously successful Convention and Table-Top mission which was indeed a great success as it saw a marked growth in terms of Indian visitors to Bali.
