A detailed report about the activities undertaken by the Chapter during the year was presented
The AGM of PATA India chapter was held on 2nd December at Claridges Hotel New Delhi. The meeting was chaired by the Chairman, Vinod Zutshi and was attended by several prominent members.
Runeep Sangha, ED, welcomed the house to the 46th AGM and invited Jatinder Taneja to present the Secretary’s report on activities conducted by PATA India Chapter during the course of the year.
Jatinder Taneja, Hony. Secretary, PATA India chapter, before presenting the report prefaced his report with some challenges faced by the Tourism industry during 2015-16 like Nepal Earthquake impact on tourism business & tourist inflow. India- Nepal itinerary was adversely affected resulting in less number of visitors, though the business regained in a year , Ambiguity on purchase & usage of diesel vehicles, Monuments fee hike, Thick smog situation in Delhi and Demonetization.
Thereafter, a detailed report about the activities undertaken by the chapter during the year was presented. He mentioned that the chapter had been keeping very busy in arranging various activities for its members. During the year, they had organized two roadshows, PATA India Roadshow to USA / Canada from 10th – 18th June 2015, – 19 sellers participated in four cities, Montreal, Toronto, Chicago and Houston. PATA – India Roadshow to Western Europe – 20th – 28th Oct 2015. 18 sellers participated in five cities – Frankfurt, Zurich, Vienna, Rome & Milan. Besides this, they had Training and education seminar for the membership, organized WWF Baghmitra awards, held an update and outlook meeting with the MOT and promoted PATA travel mart which was held in Bangalore in September, 2015.
The Chairman –Vinod Zutshi congratulated the PATA India chapter on winning the PATA Award for Excellence and expressed his pleasure to receive the same at the PATA Meet at Jakarta. He applauded the splendid performance of Chapter at the PTM as well. He appreciated that AGM was conducted very smoothly which shows the confidence of the membership in its EC in running the PATA India Chapter.
He informed the AGM that India’s tourism growth is going faster than international averages and India has been referred as the 2nd most rapidly developing destination for Tourism. Zutshi also mentioned a survey conducted by amazon.com, which lists China, India, Iceland & Cuba as the emerging Destinations -2017.
A growth of 10.5% in Tourism sector with an average of 7% growth rate augured well for Tourism as compared to other key markets which averaged around 4%.
He further informed that e-visa regime has been liberalized and more simplified for boosting the Tourism industry. E-visa has been categorized under three sections – e-tourist visa, e-business visa & e-medical visa.
