India Knocks | 2017-01-27
Lally Mathews, Hony. Secretary, IATO

It’s a real bold step taken by the prime minister. We welcome this bold step wholeheartedly. However, the implementation could have been better. It is true that demonetisation has affected the tourists and they are also feeling the cash crunch like all of us. Shortage of currency and bad rate of exchange is affecting the tourists a lot. According to some sources, some of the foreign groups have cancelled their trips to India due to the currency crunch. We have requested the ASI to install POS machines at all monuments so that tourists can pay by cards. The real effect will be felt after the sometime.
