As part of its ongoing effort to position itself as a leading global destination, the Saudi Tourism Authority (STA) kicked off 2025 with a prominent presence at SATTE in New Delhi, further solidifying Saudi Arabia’s status as one of the world’s fastest-growing tourism markets. At the renowned travel trade event, Saudi Arabia showcased its rich cultural heritage, iconic landmarks, diverse landscapes, and world-class tourism offerings. The Saudi delegation, which included 14 stakeholders from Destination Marketing Organisations (DMOs), Destination Management Companies (DMCs), and airline partners, played a key role in emphasising the kingdom’s appeal to Indian travellers.

In addition to participating in SATTE, the Saudi delegation hosted a series of strategic networking events in Bengaluru and Mumbai, engaging over 200 members of travel trade associations and Online Travel Agents (OTAs). These events provided a platform to discuss Saudi Arabia’s major tourism initiatives and explore significant growth opportunities within the Indian market.

Launching Key Initiatives in India

Saudi Arabia unveiled several new initiatives targeting the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), destination weddings, and Group Inclusive Tours (GIT) segments. These initiatives aim to position Saudi Arabia as a premier destination for large-scale conferences, corporate retreats, and exclusive events. A recent GIT familiarisation trip provided Indian travel professionals with the opportunity to experience Saudi Arabia’s rich culture, welcoming hospitality, and breathtaking landscapes firsthand.

With world-class venues, luxury accommodations, and bespoke experiences, Saudi Arabia is increasingly becoming the perfect location for Indian travellers seeking to host grand weddings and other special events.

Rising Sporting Destination

Saudi Arabia has rapidly become a global hub for major sporting events. Since 2018, the kingdom has hosted over 100 international sporting events, including high-profile boxing matches and Formula 1 races. Looking ahead, Saudi Arabia is set to host the World Rally Championship, the FIBA Basketball Asia Cup, the Esports World Cup, and the FIFA World Cup 2034, with matches scheduled to take place in iconic venues across Riyadh, Jeddah, Al Khobar, and Abha. These world-class events are expected to attract Indian sports enthusiasts, offering unparalleled opportunities to witness top-tier sporting action in an exciting new destination.

Enhanced Connectivity and Easy Access

Saudi Arabia’s increasing stature as a sports and tourism powerhouse is complemented by its growing connectivity, making travel more accessible than ever. As of February 2025, the number of weekly inbound flights from India has risen to 314, reflecting a 13.4% increase compared to the same period in 2024. This capacity is expected to grow by a further 14.5% this year, with new routes added to 33 major gateways, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, catering to the increasing demand for both business and leisure travel.

Currently, seven airlines operate between India and Saudi Arabia, including Saudia, Flynas, IndiGo, Air India, Air India Express, SpiceJet, and Akasa Air, offering seamless connectivity. Additionally, Indian travellers holding a valid Schengen, UK, or US visa can now benefit from simplified visa procedures at 11 Tasheer Centres across India, making it even easier and more convenient to travel to Saudi Arabia.
