English Tourism Week, the annual week dedicated to celebrating England’s tourism industry, is poised to be held from March 14 to 23 with global businesses, destinations and visitor attractions all coming under one roof.
In a press statement, VisitEngland says that English Tourism Week sees the industry come together to highlight tourism’s importance to local communities and economies and promote the innovation, quality and range of products and services on offer to boost domestic breaks.
Co-ordinated by VisitEngland, this year’s campaign is using the strapline ‘Supporting people and places to drive growth’ to celebrate the people, places, businesses, attractions, experiences and destinations at the heart of England’s tourism sector.
“England’s first-class tourism offering is a source of national pride, bringing in billions for the economy, supporting millions of jobs and driving growth into local communities. English Tourism Week is a time to celebrate that and all the hard work our visitor economy does showcasing our country to the world,” says Chris Bryant, Tourism Minister.
“As part of our Plan for Change, we have an ambition to welcome 50 million international visitors a year to the UK by 2030, so I urge everyone to come and explore all we have to offer not just throughout this week but all year round,” Bryant adds.
“With spring upon us and the Easter break just ahead it is timely to shine a spotlight on the outstanding tourism offer here on our doorstep, and on an industry which supports millions of jobs and local economies right across England,” says VisitEngland Director Andrew Stokes.
“We also know that it has been a very mixed picture for many destinations across England, highlighting the challenges for tourism businesses. So, this is a rallying cry to really encourage everyone to explore England in springtime and throughout the summer as we celebrate our valuable industry, boosting its profile and acknowledging the hard-working people who go above and beyond for our visitors,” Stokes adds.
The statement adds that in the lead-up to English Tourism Week and throughout VisitEngland is also encouraging people to show support for English tourism on social media by using #EnglishTourismWeek25.
VisitEngland’s Tourism Superstar 2025 competition will also conclude during the week with voting open until midnight on the 23 March and with the winner announced at the end of English Tourism Week.
VisitEngland, Local Visitor Economy Partnerships (LVEPs) and destinations are also asking MPs, local authorities, the UK Government and other stakeholders to get involved, for example by visiting local tourism businesses and attractions during the week.
The statement adds that tourism is one of England’s largest and most valuable industries, supporting hundreds of thousands of small-to-medium sized businesses, employing 2.6 million people and generating about £71.6 billion annually for the economy in domestic visitor spending.
